Join our Private Northern Lights Tour Tromsø and chase the Aurora Borealis away from the city lights. This 6–8 hour tour includes pick-up and drop-off in Tromsø and is reserved exclusively for you and your group. We choose the route according to weather, cloud cover and current viewing conditions, giving us flexibility to travel to different locations during the evening. Hot drinks, snacks and photos are included, and we can also make a campfire when conditions allow.

Tour Start and Pick-up

Your private Northern Lights tour starts with pick-up from your accommodation or agreed location in Tromsø. After pick-up, we leave the city lights behind and begin our Northern Lights chase. The route depends on the weather, cloud cover and viewing conditions that evening.

Chasing the Northern Lights

Every Northern Lights chase is different, so we choose our route according to the weather, cloud cover and current viewing conditions. Before and during the tour, we monitor weather forecasts and cloud movement to help us find suitable locations. Depending on the conditions, we may travel to different areas around Tromsø or farther away when necessary. Along the way, your guide will share information about the Northern Lights, local conditions and the places we visit.

Aurora Viewing Experience

Once we find a suitable viewing location, we stop and spend time watching the sky for the Northern Lights. When conditions allow, we can make a campfire while you enjoy hot drinks and snacks. If the conditions change, we may continue the chase and move to another location with better viewing possibilities.

Northern Lights Photography

During the tour, your guide can take photos of you and the Northern Lights when conditions allow. If you bring your own camera, we can also help with basic camera settings for Northern Lights photography. We provide tripods for guests who bring their own cameras.

Return to Tromsø

At the end of the Northern Lights tour, we drive back to Tromsø and provide drop-off at your accommodation or agreed location within our pick-up and drop-off area. The return time may vary depending on the route, weather conditions and how far we travel during the chase.

  • Warm clothing: Dress warmly and in layers according to the weather. Temperatures can be considerably colder in inland areas and at exposed viewing locations.
  • Warm, sturdy footwear: Choose suitable footwear to keep your feet warm and comfortable during the tour.
  • Camera (optional): Bring your own camera if you would like to take Northern Lights photos. We provide tripods and can help with basic camera settings.
  • Extra food or drinks (optional): Hot drinks and snacks are included, but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer.
  • Cold weather: Arctic conditions can be very cold, particularly at inland and exposed viewing locations. Please dress warmly and in layers.
  • Health and fitness: Guests should be comfortable spending periods of time outdoors in cold weather and getting in and out of the vehicle at viewing stops.
  • Child seats: If you are travelling with a child, please select a child seat during checkout. This tour is not suitable for infants.
  • Accessibility: Unfortunately, this tour is not suitable for wheelchair users.
  • No pets: Pets cannot join the tour.
  • Northern Lights sightings: The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, so sightings cannot be guaranteed. We choose our route according to weather, cloud cover and current viewing conditions to find suitable locations.
